The Hermitage is an Outstanding 11-19 Academy in Chester-le-Street. We are a Specialist Technology College and also have a specialism within Applied Learning. As a nationally recognised Leading Edge School, we also have an additional specialism within Gifted and Talented provision.
In 2007/8 we received an Ofsted "Outstanding" overall effectiveness grade and "Outstanding" Grades in all five categories of the inspection including Teaching and Learning. In 2011 our interim assessment from Ofsted confirmed that we had not only maintained these incredibly high standards but improved upon them further.
