Science
At key stage 3 we operate a condensed curriculum, which means that students receive their final assessment marks at the end of year 8. With the removal of the SATs exam, the students are now assessed using the new ‘Assessing Pupils Progress’ (APP) criteria which is a continual assessment programme. In order to cater for the new assessment criteria students follow a themed curriculum, where 9 units are covered over the two years delivering content in a ‘how science works’ context. The whole focus of the course is to engage students allowing them to develop an enthusiasm and interest for science, involving them in the learning process and allowing them to see the importance of science in our society.
