Applied Art and Design (Double)
In Key Stage 4, students gradually take more control of their own work and choice of themes is introduced into the work at Year 10 and 11.
Themes: Natural Forms, Cubism, Landscapes, Translucent Objects, Multi-Cultural and Human Form.
In Year 11, students are expected to take a 10 hour exam under exam conditions.
Students are expected to cover two to three projects pver the two years of this course. Each Project must consist of the four assessment criteria given below.
1. It is important that each theme to your project will be based on direct observational drawing from primary resources together wth research, which involves gathering images and collecting information.
2. Critical analysis and evaluation shows good understanding of your chosen artists' work combined with options, which sucessfully link and influence your own art work.
3. The production of different compositional and interesting ideas from your observational drawings and research be experimenting and exploring a range of materials and techniques to develop and enhance those ideas.
4. Produce a final piece of artwork with links to an artist of their choice.
Homwork: Set weekly and continuous work to meet your individual targets.
Applied Art
In GCSE Double Award Applied Art, students will have the opportunity of working with artists and designers in residence to explore how artists work in the industry. in addition, students are required to cover two Assignments in Year 10 and a third assignment in Year 11.
For Assignment 1 and 2 students will need to produce a portfolio of work with evidence and competence of skills in 2D and 3D visual language. together with exploration in using a range of materials and techniques learned in Art and Design.
Students at the end of the course is expected to take over a ten hour exam as part of their controlled test.
